LAURA JEFFREY
Actor/Singer/Dancer

Ever since I can remember I have always loved being in the limelight in one way or another. I was involved in all of the performances at Primary School (many moons ago) and some of the ones at high school. However, after a very bad experience with my GCSE drama teacher I avoided acting for 6 years….but last year my confidence and passion for stage returned and as far as I’m concerned now the skies the limit and there’s no role too challenging!

Since joining the York Rising Stars I have been involved in concerts, a panto and a summer show, playing anything from Fairy Sparkle, to an Ice Man, to a maid and in the last panto I played the Cow (I only wonder if our director is trying to tell me something!)

I am going to be playing one of the lead roles of 'Granny Weatherwax' in the summer production of 'Wyrd Sisters'.

I came to York in 2002 to study Biochemistry at the University of York. Since completing my degree I have worked for Reckitt Benckiser in Hull as a Laboratory Technician and am about to embark on a new position at Covance at a Molecular Genetic Toxicologist which I am very excited about.
